Canadian B&BS Proud To Honour Veterans and Military Personnel with FREE ROOMS on REMEMBRANCE DAY! A campaign titled B&Bs for Vets started in West Virginia in 2008 in honor of Veteran's Day in the US. Last year, BBCanada.com - Canada's leading bed and breakfast web directory got involved to create more awareness for the campaign in Canada. BBCanada.com is looking forward to an even greater level of participation from our members this fall. Hundreds of B&Bs throughout Canada and the U.S. will be honouring veterans and military personnel with free rooms in recognition of Remembrance Day. B&B owners will be opening their doors with complimentary stays for the night of Sunday November 11, 2012. Guests will enjoy a wonderful breakfast the next morning after a relaxing night's sleep in a B&B. B&B owners are thrilled that they can participate in this campaign. Defence Minister Peter MacKay visits Pictou County with General Walt Natynczyk

In May 2011, Defence Minister Peter Mackay invited Chief of Defence Staff Walter Natynczyk to Pictou County to meet with the Construction Engineer Flight 144 Pictou. They toured the Pictou County Military Heritage Museum in Westville, and spoke with local air, sea, and army cadets. They also toured some of the community service club project sites the AEF 144 assists with renovations and construction.
